This limited edition double pack brings together issues 3 and 5. These mini magazines  look at the history of video game fanzines, independent publishing, and online media.

Originally bundled up with previous issues, these limited edition NVG Art Book Fair editions feature heavier paper stock and minor updates. They come with a limited edition postcard from Devils Blush. 

Issue 3. Video game fanzine history

Issue #3 is dedicated to video game fanzines in the 90s. Featuring insights from the legendary Arnie Katz, it explores video game fandom before the internet. If you've ever used glue, ancient desktop publishing software and a photocopier to create a mini magazine the nostalgia will hit you hard. 

Issue 5. Blue slimes and zines

Issue 5 is a guide to publishing your own video game magazine and building an online empire... as told through a JRPG lens. And if want to use Dragon Quest as an analogy

• A Tweet is like a basic enemy, e.g. a blue slime. They’re plentiful, but don’t do much in the way of experience points.

• An article is like a mini-boss. They don’t come along as often, they require more effort, but they can bestow a healthy level of brand exposure.

• A printed magazine is the big boss at the end of each chapter. It’s a whole thing, but getting it out into the world opens up the next chapter.

Reading all that back I sound like a crazy person. But in my mind it helps to structure the content I produce and the associated serotonin that each produces. Anyway, you get the idea.
